Brief Bio of Tonya Oldfather

Tonya Oldfather, I'm from Waterloo, Iowa. I've lived here all my life, grown and raised Iowan. I first found out that I was into art at the age of 8. I really enjoyed drawing animals and I had this crazy idea that someday I would be an artist. And what do you know that crazy idea has become a reality. I am very content and happy that I have chosen graphic design as my profession.

Summer of 2003 got enrolled at Hawkeye Community College for Graphic Design (a local college here in Waterloo, Iowa). When going into this program I had the idea that I would become a web designer, not realizing what graphic design really was. I actually found out that I have more talent then I went in with. I learned how to take my abilities and apply it to an everyday item, and much more.

I graduated in the Spring of 2006. After graduation I wasn't fully satisfied with my web skills. I made the decision to go back and apply for the Web Design program. While attending the Web Design program I have made the achievement of being on the Dean’s list all four semesters of the program.

After graduating from the Web Design program, the Brosbst Center provided me with the opportunity to design and develop a web site that will allow new and current instructors to seek help with their teaching needs. Since then I have been working with the Brobst Center at Hawkeye Community College temporarily. My skills and knowledge have increase periodically when given the chance to work with Multimedia and technical services. I now work closely with hardware/software to maintain their cable television channel while still looking after their video conferencing classes.
